Our TVET students in photo exhibition

NADC Photoimaging TVET teacher Jo Rankine and daughter at the opening of 'Snapshot.'

The Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest have been displaying lots of photography of late, and last night was no exception with the opening of two photo-based exhibitions. Currently on show at the PRG is 'Snapshot' a photography competition for teenagers.

From humble beginnings, 'Snapshot' has grown to become a major feature on the Gallery's exhibition calendar, and this year it attracted 800 entries from the local area, interstate, and around the globe. Three hundred of these images were selected for display in the Gallery, and impressively, seven of our TVET students were selected for inclusion in the exhibition from this highly competitive field.

Congratulations to our photo imaging TVET students, and their teacher, Jo Rankine on this great achievement. The Gallery has a lovely garden and cafe, and is a good place to spend some time. While you are there, make sure you check out 'Framed 2012', photoworks by students of the Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts.

Photoimaging students involved in multimedia project

an example of a previous project by illuminart

NADC photoimaging students are involved in an exciting multi-media public art project scheduled for Penrith in September. The project, called 'no boundaries' will culminate in 2 days of performance and projection in the Penrith City Centre. If you watch the clip above which documents a previous work by the company overseeing the ' no boundaries' project, you will get a sense of the visual potential and excitement of this medium.

We have some photoimaging students who have volunteered to work on the project as either content/ image creators, and/or technical operators. There is a strong performative aspect to this kind of work, so it promises to be lots of fun.

In addition, Diploma of Photoimaging students lead by teacher Jackie Dean will get valuable experience documenting live action performance during the project screenings and events in September. It promises to be a very exciting project, so watch this space, or visit http://www.illuminart.com.au for more info.
