Our courses prepare candidates to work in the photographic industry as an employee, assistant, freelancer or business owner.

In 2015 we have short courses to establish your basic skills, or enrich your existing
knowledge. Our Introduction to Digital Photography is the perfect course for those
not currently seeking full-time study, who wish to increase their understanding of their
digital SLR.

Our Preparatory Skill Set is for those who want to take their learning to the next level
and extend their knowledge of camera craft, studio lighting, location techniques, post-production and professional printing. This course is available full-time and part-time, with day and evening offerings. Successful completion of this course provides entry into the Diploma of Photo Imaging.

The Diploma of Photo Imaging is the industry standard qualification for professional photographers. The Diploma equips the learners in intermediate and advanced skills in studio lighting, location shooting, colour management, post-production and output, advanced camera craft and more.

The Diploma gives the learner hands-on experience with real jobs and work practices in a wide range of photographic tasks designed to equip the photographer for the workplace. The skills learnt in the Diploma can be applied to fashion, landscape, corporate, portrait, wedding and numerous other aspects of photography. Heather Williams and Yvonne Larkins at the launch of their new business
Diploma of Photo Imaging graduates Heather Williams and Yvonne Larkins launched their fab new business last week in a glamorous celebration at their new Katoomba premises. Trading as 'Gosh You're Gorgeous', Heather and Yvonne have set up studio in elegant art deco rooms in Katoomba, offering studio portraiture, make-up, and exhibition space. The pair will also soon make workspace available to rent for creatives needing a workspace for some of the week. The opening celebrations showcased the beautiful new rooms, and work by Yvonne and Heather's former class mates in the Diploma is on display as the inaugural exhibition. Yvonne and Heather got this business going just a few weeks after graduating from the Diploma of Photo Imaging, and if the opening party was anything to go by, it has all the hallmarks of success. Diploma graduate part of team to win inaugural prize in World Photo Cup

Kevin Chamberlain completed the Diploma in PhotoImaging in 2007.  His work has consistently won awards. We are excited to announce the latest one below...

Technical specs of the image.......
Nikon D800E, 24-70mm lens, f/5.0, 1/60 ,ISO 400, tripod mounted, available light.
Here are Kevin's comments regarding the image you can view via the link  below

This image was one of a number of images produced for Specialist Lighting supply company Zumtobel Lighting - mainly intended for the cover of their Product Catalogue in Australia. A major selling point for the client, is the colour temperature, colour rendition and colour stability of their latest LED light products. This client wanted visually striking images symbolising the use and importance of accurate colour.

This was not the easy task I first imagined. I shot many versions with different light sources and angles. Ultimately, an alternate diagonal image with prominent shadows cast against a white background was used to wrap-around the cover pages whilst a simplified version of this image was used on the front inside cover.

I submitted this image to APPA in 2013 where it was judged as the highest scoring commercial image for the 2013, scoring 94 points (a Gold award). Subsequently,  this image was included as part of the Australian National Photographic Team for entry into the inaugural World Photographic Cup for 2014.  22 countries from 4 continents were entered into this first edition of the Cup where Team Australia reached second place behind the USA.
